Acoustic Wonders & Woodland Canopy
Nestled in the heart of Mistwood Forest, Whistle Rock Chasm gets its name from a peculiar acoustic echo produced when mountain breezes channel through a narrow, naturally carved granite slit directly above the primary 20-foot chute. The sound creates an almost musical whistle, mingling softly with the rushing stream below.
Surrounded by giant hemlocks, old-growth western red cedars, and lush underbrush, Whistle Rock is an accessible haven for morning hikers seeking tranquility without grueling elevation climbs.

As you approach the chasm, a wooden observation platform offers panoramic views of the cascading water rushing through granite bedrock tiers. For photographers, lower rock platforms along the stream bank provide safe tripod perches.
Atmospheric Photography Advice
Early morning fog settles frequently over Mistwood Forest between sunrise and 09:30 AM. Use a medium telephoto focal length (50-85mm) to isolate stream details against the soft backdrop of misty tree trunks.
